Sunday Saves: Traditional Tile Patterns

We’re taking you inside and sharing our most beloved selections to date – the timeless and traditional stone tile of the Kath House. If you’ve been around for awhile you know we partner with Jeffrey Court often for our natural stone tile selections, and this was no exception in our personal home.

Owner’s Suite Natural Stone Tile

The design for the entire home was centered around the owner’s suite bathroom. With a luxury suite in mind, we curated beautiful natural stones, incorporating color, pattern and texture to be the show stoppers in the entire home. You’ll have to read our post from a year ago detailing all of the materials and initial design inspiration here.

You’ll notice each bathroom space pairs carefully with the custom vanity selections, finishes and styles of which are fabricated on our own cabinet shop.

Laundry Room Hexagon Stone Tile

Our home is a modern Tudor, with a nod to traditional accents throughout – the tone on tone laundry room is no exception. Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore painted walls, trim and cabinetry really make the Thassos Hexagon Mosaic floor tile stand out and make a statement of their own.

Lyla’s Coastal Inspired Bathroom

Our most playful bathroom in the entire house. The Metropolitan Mosaic is a collection favorite, one that will be repeated again in a client project. We knew it had to be featured in our home and the color palate of Lyla’s bath really grabbed at this mosaic in the beige color way. As you can see this tile does not call for any grout lines, with very carefully laid beige pieces of stone embedded into the basket weave pattern of the mosaic. True craftsmanship.

Charlie’s Madmen Inspired Bathroom

Moody meets modern in this glam bathroom for our 12 year old son. Again, playing with tone on tone we added interest with the chic Manhattan Mosaic stone tile and a subtle, yet elegant herringbone pattern on the shower walls. The intent was to take this bathroom well beyond his teenage years – timeless design.

Jkath’s greatest hits indeed! A compilation of favorite items, The Press all glass mosaic floor tile by Jeffrey Court, inspired by newsrooms from the early 20th century. And a Classic subway tile with an artisan, slightly imperfect finish, Europa Arte in Paloma.

Mudroom Hexagon Limestone Tile

Limestone – it’s back and it’s amazing! We selected a fun hexagon pattern, with a coordinating grout line. The stone has a subtle brushed detail with slight variation throughout.

You may have noticed we prefer to use coordinating grout lines throughout our home when possible, while we love a good contrast, we reserve that for more playful and less traditional spaces in our client work. It’s a personal preference, and changing your grout line colors can create an entirely new install, so have fun with it!
