Sunday Saves: Wall Decor for Your Home

Week of January 18th, 2021

We’re in the final stretch of our new construction home, featured on the Minnesota Parade of Homes Tour this Spring. All selections are made, there is very little time for any changes now. So we’re focusing our efforts on final accessories and home decor. Today we’re sharing a round up of some favorite finds to decorate your wall with – that won’t break your budget.

Sister Golden

You gotta love Instagram – local radio DJ and friend, Falen shared this on her feed as a gift she received for the holiday’s. I was immediately drawn to the texture and neutral color palate. I also love the opportunity to grab a print, originals make a great story – but let’s face it, if our homes were packed with original artwork we’d be an art gallery and would need a separate insurance policy. Purchasing prints are a great and affordable way to support small businesses too.

Woven Baskets – For the Wall

Many have jumped on board with this trend – but I love the modern take on this collection. After hours scouring Etsy, we found this trio and had to grab one of two left. They have a wide variety and found many similar designs we would be thrilled to have in our home. Brooklyn Set, made in Rwanda.

Collection Prints

We grabbed a small collection of these in 8×10’s to have on hand, just in case. I already know of one permanent placement in our house, but better to be prepared with a few backups, and you can’t go wrong at this price point. Currently buy one, get one 50% off. You can even purchase as a download and print yourself.

Also, our home is located on the Minnehaha Creek so the first image is fitting, and when not in Minnesota, we love to spend time on the ocean in Cannon Beach, the second image feels fitting for our daughter’s bath paired with the underwater world wallpaper we’re adding.

Alison Junda Paintings

In the theme of prints along the water, I have fallen in love with Alison Junda Paintings – in particular, following her on Instagram. Also sold as originals, commissioned art and prints. We grabbed an original awhile back and have used for occasional staging – and we do plan to find a permanent place for this gem in our new home.

Find Something That Matters

Artwork should have some meaning behind it, reminiscent of a time or place. Maybe you fell in love with something at an art fair – great memory from that one day adventure. Or a painting of a favorite destination, perhaps a phrase that resonates – we did just that in other areas of our home. This takes a little bit more effort and often requires you to get out and explore. Let it be known – it comes with time, your wall art will be a collection of prints and originals that will tell a personal story and journey.

Sourced via Four Hands for our 14 year old – if you know her, you understand the print.

Watercolor of our favorite place on Earth – Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach
