Sunday Saves: Our Favorite Pumpkin Recipes

The season is upon us, and we’re sharing our favorite pumpkin recipes. Starting with my grandmas pumpkin pie recipe. I can recall each year at Halloween, my grandma would ask us to save our outdoor pumpkins, so she can turn them into pies for the upcoming holiday season.

Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

1 lb can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie flavoring)

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 1/2 tablespoons flour

3 eggs slightly beaten

2 cups evaporated milk

3/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

Mix in a small bowl the flour, salt and pie spice by hand. In a large bowl blend pumpkin and brown sugar, then add the small bowl of ingredients. Stir in the slightly beaten eggs. Add the evaporated milk and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Pour in pie crust, store bought or prepared your favorite homemade crust. We love The Pioneer Woman’s pie crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until knife comes out clean from the center.

Cream Cheese Swirled Pumpkin Bread

There is nothing better than warm pumpkin bread and a hot cup of coffee to start your day. We stock our freezer with sweet breads, as easy weekday breakfasts when kids are racing out the door to school. Also great for Fall weekends away to have on hand in the car. This recipe of cream cheese pumpkin bread is from one of our favorites, Half Baked Harvest.

Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage and Toasted Hazelnuts

I don’t care what you say about pasta, it’ll always be a favorite in our household. Also an easy way to add in other nutrition, vegetables, herbs and in this case, pumpkin. Giada is also a household favorite, her pasta recipes are easy and fool proof. Sharing her Pumpkin Ravioli dish here.
