Sunday Saves: How to Capture the Holiday Spirit
The holiday season came upon us overnight this year. We’re not new to this at Jkath, with many seasons providing holiday gift guides, decoration guides, and festive ways to get in the spirit, this week’s Sunday Saves is rounding up just a few of the ways we set the tone for a short work week ahead.
Save the Date
With many holiday events all over the Twin Cities, we have a few we highly recommend.
Tonkadale Holiday Market, Dec 10th, 12pm – 4pm. Featuring a first-ever makers market, packed with local artisans, and a great way to stock up on holiday gifts (while indoors). While there browse Tonkadale’s gift shop, it’s one of the best in town.

A family holiday festival, in its second year, is The Northern Express. Situated just west of the metro in Excelsior, with a marketplace, outdoor holiday activities, food vendors, and more. Tickets are on sale, you’ll need to plan ahead as dates/times are pre-arranged.

A few family traditions we do every year, the first is The Childrens Theatre for their annual holiday show. This year is The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Grab a matinee showing and head out to dinner afterward, a fun family tradition, for ALL ages.
Circus Juventas, located in St. Paul, is a secret that was never meant to be a secret. Their holiday show, Soltice, runs through December 18th. If you cannot make the event, what a perfect gift for someone else this holiday season.
Holiday Activities for the Home

We’ve shared our repeat blog post on How to Decorate the Mantel, Two Ways before. With updated links and inspiration it’s a great way to find new inspiration, maybe using old decor and grabbing 1-2 new things this season.
We also love a few good activities and recently added these to our home for everyone to get lost in, while anticipating the holidays.
Decorate the Christmas Tree, together.
Put together the Lego Ideas Home Alone House
Holiday puzzles, we love the seasonal Galison puzzles, go for the 1,000-piece sets.

Make a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board
We can’t take credit, Charlie Kath (Kath’s son) had the brilliant idea of putting this together a few weeks ago. It was so fun, and festive, we noted it for future holiday gatherings this season. While we did not follow a recipe, you can find a few ideas here.
