Sunday Saves: Community
Week of November 4, 2019:
What a busy + fun week for us, and it all surrounded around community. Jesse was running around all Monday to make sure our team was all set up to carry out the week while we were in California. Tuesday was a full travel day from MN to CA. Besides the smog, that California air felt like a big hug after being in 30 degree temps in Minneapolis! The next few days were all about learning about SKS appliances and connecting with other local MN builders and designers. Jesse and I love when brands bring the building community together for events like this where we can relax and indulge in meaningful conversation.
At the beginning on the week I was able to spend two amazing days with a business organization I have been a part of for years, Women Presidents’ Organization. We do an annual retreat to celebrate our year’s accomplishments and connect with one another. We opted for a staycation that included a tour of Minneapolis filled with local food and drinks. Can you remember the last time you played tourist in your own city? I feel like the last time I did, it was when the kids were a lot younger. I can’t recommend it enough! The list of places to explore in Minneapolis is never ending.
Local tour stops: Children’s MN, Mercury Mosaics, Dunwoody College
Food/drinks: Hotel Emery, Alma, Finnegan’s Brewery
California with Signature Kitchen Suite Appliances
Just as the temperature was dropping in Minnesota… we got to sneak out to California for a few days. We were there with SKS Appliances for a full showroom tour and training to get to know their new appliances up close. On Wednesday night, we cooked a group meal (20 of us!… with help from a professional chef) using all SKS appliances.
Have you heard of sous vide cooking? I am totally sold on it after that meal. You can even purchase sustainable bags to cook with. Thank you SKS appliances! We had so much fun this week and can’t wait to get back and talk about these appliances with our clients.
Colombia Service Trip X Wildhive
This past week we posted about my upcoming trip to Colombia that I am going on with Wildhive. Part dance, part making friends, part volunteering in the local community and all around having fun and growing your connection with others. This trip we will be helping build a community center in Santa Marta with La Sierra Artist Residency (non profit organization). Please consider donating so we can reach our goal and give the people of Santa Marta access to a community center. Read more about the service we will be doing here.

We returned to the cities on Friday… just in time for the cold weather. Shop my cozy knit picks by clicking through the links below.
My fall uniform every year is either a chunky turtle neck, or an oversized scarf/poncho. It’s basically like carrying around a blanket. Ponchos are my favorite because they are so versatile and you can easily layer and style them.
I love this color combo and simplicity of this poncho. It’s lightweight so make sure to layer up.
This chunky turtleneck is oversized, so it’s perfect for a lounge day by the fire.
A couple of weeks ago I shared a knit hat from The North Face, but I recently came across this beanie with a pom and I love the color combos so I had to share. The pom might be too big for me, we’ll see how it looks on!
Speaking of hats… can’t post a hat without mittens to match! I feel like I can still get away with wearing knit mittens for now. Talk to me in about 2 weeks and I’m probably onto my heavy duty pair.
I am constantly linking throw blankets, but you guys love them and always ask for more. You can never have too many! Love the red buffalo option here for the holidays. It’s also 20% off!
