In the absence of a catchy title, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our busy design team, field crews, and cabinet shop. Typically this time of year we’re racing to the finish line of delivering homes in time for the holidays. Well, we’ve gotten smarter and no longer promise a finished home by the end of the year unless we know we can make it happen – with no uncertainty. With this in mind, we are wrapping up our final project of the year, Fletcher Place. An entire kitchen and dining room renovation, paired with the primary suite on the second floor. Beauty in Bellgrove

This house was built in 1941, and older homes are never easy. We had our fair share of surprises after demolition, with only minor setbacks, we’re in the finishing stages. Custom Cabinetry is installed, and countertops are going in this week, along with the final plumbing fixtures, just before the holiday weekend.

Miranda Jellison, a Jkath Designer, worked with the homeowners to select a beautiful mitered edge profile for the quartz backsplash, custom hood details and finished interior cabinetry with glass fronts as a few of the custom elements we will see. Stay tuned for the final reveal.

Minneapolis Lake Living

Additionally, we’re moving along on two early 1900s homes near the lakes in Minneapolis, with framing well underway on our large addition, and the total demolition and clean up finished at our 4-level renovation near Lake Harriet. Our team went on-site for walk-throughs to assess progress and troubleshoot current complications.

Wooded Wonderland at the Finish Line

Nearing the finish line for early 2024, is Dominica Way. An existing home we gutted to the studs and rebuilt with two additions, one off to the side and the other on the rear of the home. This allowed the house to take on a new primary suite and private bathroom, a larger living and kitchen area, with an adjacent office suite. The lower level will also be complete and used as an apartment-style living for two residents within the home. 3D renderings here, we’re excited to see the wood elements paired with colorful wall color and wallpaper applications throughout this home. Katie Wick, a Jkath Designer is pushing through to the finish line to wrap up final furniture selections for a Jkath open house we will offer to a select group in the new year.

Cozy Cottage Lower Level

Speaking of bringing projects to a close, we’re sharing a sneak peek of a recently finished lower level in Shakopee. This was a new construction house, with an unfinished lower level, a welcome opportunity by our team. Also, an early design project for Jenna Bonde, who transitioned from an intern to a Design Assitant for Jkath in 2023. This project gives off a cozy cottage feels, with the paneled alder wood backsplash, warm paint tones, and vibrant quartz detailing in the countertop and backsplash.

Recently acquired vintage items from Katie Kath’s family, a wool blanket from several decades back, and her great-grandmother’s wine glasses as seen on the shelf here. Fun to play with items that carry meaning, as a testament to filling your own spaces.
