St. Paul Colonial Transformation
Kitchen remodels are among our favorite. The kitchen represents the heart of the home and in this case, the heart was looking faint. The major goal for this kitchen was to create a chef grade space to prepare meals, while spending quality family time together. This was important to this young family.

A family of 5 posed with a design challenge of a compartmentalized kitchen and a crowded rear entry. Poor storage and dated amenities throughout, this kitchen had seen an update in the late 80’s removing the original integrity of the home making it feel very disconnected from the other living spaces.
Take a look at the before images of this space.
Our clients wanted a seamless transition from their kitchen to main living spaces. With every project we take on, we take it upon ourselves to make sure we are helping our clients realize their dream. Often making recommendations of ways to cut back, or where to splurge in order to achieve their goals.

Added craftsmanship with wainscoting and built in pantry conversion from an original hall closet were added design and function details.
Many clients believe that lack of storage immediately means they need an addition. We like to find creative solutions for our clients in their existing spaces so they don’t feel like they need to double their budget for an additional 200 square feet. In some cases, the extra square footage causes more problems (including expenses!) than it resolves.

We were able to maximize storage in all of the new cabinetry, including the custom kitchen island that holds a microwave, roll out spice rack and pull out drawers for kids dish ware. It was important from a design element to create unique storage solutions to keep clutter from collecting on the countertops. The entry way to into the back hallway was opened up, creating less of a pinch point and more flow in and out of the kitchen. Without a formal addition, we needed to borrow square footage from adjacent rooms in the house to make this space feel larger and more functional. This included relocating the powder bath door from this hallway around the corner.

We are passionate about contributing to the original character of the home, leaving the space feeling custom and intentional. We also tied in a neutral color theme with painted cabinets and light gray walls to flow into the other living spaces. A natural white oak element was applied to the custom hood to compliment the hardwood floors.

Let’s not forget the sweet powder bath that was updated. Crushing on the pretty in pink color way.
