Sunday Saves: Noteworthy Trends

Week of January 25th, 2021

We're rounding out the first month of the year, with our eyes set on design trends (that we anticipate to be lasting design for years to come), trends in marketing, and trends in home decor. We've created a roundup here of things to keep an eye on.

Trends for Your Renovation

Jkath Designer, Katie Wick did a round up of 10 trends that you should consider if you're planning a renovation this year. We're thrilled to see many of these carry over from the past few years and a few new ones that we know are here to stay!

Range alcove, fluted accents and beauty with age are just a few we have our eye on. Read the 10 Kitchen and Bathroom Trends for 2021 here.

Marketing Trends

This topic may feel out of place, but this is something we're discussing at the office on the regular. It can be a full time job to stay up to speed, so we're capturing a few highlights here:

  1. Add ALT text to your images on IG when creating a post, select advanced settings and enter a descriptive text that can be searchable. It's read by a screen reading program for the visually impaired. And when IG rolls out a new tool - USE it.

  2. Use more carousel photos and long text posts. A bit time consuming, but more reason to plan your posts for the week ahead of time. These tips keep your audience on your posts longer, and good for the algorithms.

  3. Have you made a reel yet? If you're just getting started, good thing - they've made a few changes to make this easier than the launch last summer. Load short clips and even still images (take a screen recording of a still) to create a BTS while adding text, music, and personality for your followers.

  4. When was the last time you updated your bio? Use key words to describe who you are or what you do, these are searchable. And if you've lost music rights to today's hits - change to a creator page and you will have those back!

Home Decor Trends

We're busy working with multiple clients on home furnishings. We love coming alongside our renovation clients to complete the look. While we often go the route of custom for 1-2 key pieces in every space, we love sourcing fast (and available) finds to help balance the budget - which can be done easily with consoles, throw pillows, rugs and window treatments. A few of our favorites here:

Woven Door Console | Upholstered Cube | Rattan Storage Bin

Wood Coffee Table | Jute Area Rug | Ladder Bookshelf

Floral Pillow | Floor Mirror | Faux Leather Ottoman
