Sunday Saves: Contemporary Remix
Week of August 17th, 2020
Summer is winding down, I almost hate to say this out loud, but nearing the end of August - speaks for itself. Looking back at the past 6 months, it's been an emotional whirlwind. The loss of clients due to the fear of a pandemic, kids home from school for almost 6 straight months (this is a first), and the entire summer calander wiped clean to start over with. Then something strange happened, and it all started coming back, each week included a few more emails and calls and before we knew it, we were able to say we're booked for the remainder of 2020. The fear of losing it all finished with the reality we may close out on a solid year. This, we will be forever grateful for, and to our clients.
If you're following our Sunday Saves, you know that each week we share updates of our week, what used to be a collection of local events - is now simply smaller things that save us each week. It can be a good book, inspiration within the community, a favorite wall covering or a behind the scenes look of a current project.
We have to be honest, repeat clients are some of our favorite. We've earned their trust, the selection process is much more smooth, and the efficiencies are in place. This is the case with our Whitegate Lane renovation. We did their kitchen and main floor updates a few years ago, now we're back to finish the lower level, update the mudroom/powder/laundry and renovate their en suite bathroom. Sharing design inspiration for the ensuite bathroom here.
We're excited to partner with Room and Board selections to pull off this contemporary update with a few traditional elements too. This bathroom is well underway, so stay close to our stories on Instagram for continued updates.
Cannon Beach in 3 Days
Finally, after a decade of travel to the same spot and many dm's sent, I put together a full three day itinerary to the Oregon Coast. Read the full Three Days in Cannon Beach here, and more day trips too, if you have the time.
An Over Achiever's Guide To Breaking The Rules
Written by my friend, Heather Whelpley - her first book is out and available for pre-sale here. What a perfect book for book club, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy this fall.
"An Overachievers Guide To Breaking The Rules invites you to get off the hamster wheel of constant performing, take a breath, and rediscover your truth. This is more than a personal development book. It's an inward journey to free yourself from the weight of perfection and start living your truth." - Heather Whelpley
You heard us speak out earlier this summer on the current climate for social injustice. We've joined a local effort called Change Seekers to help make change within the interior design community and help diversify - creating change and identify opportunities for people of color to find careers within our space.
We've identified this may start on a grass roots level, of us getting involved within our community. We are excited to launch our first initiative with Haven Housing - in partnership with NARI cares. Jkath is the general contractor on this project, and working hard to coordinate the donation in materials and time to renovate a 2 bedroom apartment. This apartment will become new housing for a woman (or two) in transition and in need of a safe place to call home.
This project will kick off in September with a completion date, end of the month. If you'd like to be a contributor to this project, please do so here. Or help spread the word!
We are in partnership with the following (and seeking more!)
Sunday Saves of the Week
Our kids are back to school soon and lunch bags are a must, everyone will be bringing their own meal each day - our girls picked out these bags, and well, I grabbed one for myself too.
While building our new home, I am planning for an outdoor space in our screen porch to be very on theme, the Minnehaha Throw just released by Faribault Mill is the perfect addition.
We're also loving the new print by she she, wallpaper sample here. Serious contender for a project on the horizon as well.
We love being a resource for you. As a disclosure, this post contains affiliate links. If you click on one of them, we may receive a small commission (for which we are very grateful for) at no extra cost to you.
Thanks for following along + happy Summer days ahead.
