Contemporary Farmhouse Primary Bedroom and Bathroom
We have come to the grand finale of the Drew Avenue project reveal: the primary owner’s suite bedroom and bathroom! The original floor plan had all three bedrooms crammed onto the main floor with the kitchen, living room and one bathroom for six people. Adding a true master suite with spacious bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom for these deserving parents was a must-have on the new floor plan.
To recap the Drew Ave project, the home started as a humble rambler style home in Edina. The home is in a perfect location, close to the 50th and France shopping area but didn’t function right for this family. Our team took demo down to the foundation to reinvent the entire main floor plan layout and add a full second story was added on top, essentially becoming a new construction home.
Now the two story home’s open main floor is dedicated to spaces for the family to be together. A welcoming living room off the entryway with craftsman built-ins and arched fireplace to set the tone for the home. The airy dining room with gorgeous black grid French doors lead onto the front porch. The kitchen features a statement mantle range hood and wall of Marvin windows. Natural light was a top priority design goal for the new home and the black windows were one of the first selections. The main floor wraps up with a tactful mudroom/laundry room and a moody powder bathroom.
The new second story of the home has three kids’ bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The bathroom was purposefully designed to make mornings easier and selections playful. The primary owner’s suite wraps up the project reveal series.
See the project reveal for each of these rooms: kitchen, powder room, living room, dining room, kids’ bathroom and mudroom.
Primary Bedroom
These busy homeowners now have an oasis all their own, a primary retreat filled with sunlight, vaulted ceilings and privacy. The walk-in closet provides ample storage, preserving space in the bedroom for no need for additional dressers. The room is kept light and airy with the vaulted ceiling and purposeful ceiling fan.
Primary Bathroom
Behind a custom chevron track door in the Jkath cabinet shop in the primary bedroom is a neutral retreat. The double vanity, also made in the cabinet shop, is in a breathable light color, Benjamin Moore Gray Huskie, and contrasted with brass finishes.
We utilized Jeffrey Court’s Home Depot line for the primary bathroom. The large format porcelain hexagon tiles pay homage to the design of white and gray marble we all love. In the massive shower, behind the beautiful black framed door, windmill black floor tile and 4×12 white subway tile walls are clean and timeless. The single handle Kraus Indy faucets in matte black provide contrast to the white, gray and brass finishes and complement to the black grid windows.

This project was quite the journey to finish. It was a big one and we’re so grateful these homeowners trusted us to build their dream home and that they’re not living in it during these uncertain times when “home” has become even more important. We’re confident they’re going to love it for many years to come.
Stay well,
