Jeffrey Court One Room Challenge

You guys, we’re participating in a one room challenge with Jeffrey Court tile. This competition was so timely with our desperate need to transform our master bath in our own home. We don’t typically document our own home renovation projects, but this will be a fun and quick turnaround project to share. 16 designers, 6 weeks, one room. Let’s go ..

A little background first .. yes, it’s true. We joke often that I am the cobbler’s wife. We know exactly what our clients needs are, what any good renovation will require and can always predict the finished product. It’s rare this translates to our own home. We do a good job keeping our own space relevant, but total overhauls of our own individual spaces are harder to take on. By the end of each day, we are ready to shut it down.

But with a nudge in the right direction and a little incentive on the table, we’re all in. Our bathroom lacked a few basic amenities, such as a vanity, bathtub and a proper linen closet. Before we jump into the before images, I quickly threw together a design board to capture the inspiration of the finished project.

Custom walnut vanities are our jam, we seem to be installing more and more of these. So we added this to the list of must haves. There is something so timeless about walnut and it always lends itself to the perfect contrast in color and material. I found these beautifully handmade light fixtures from Cedar & Moss in Oregon, also locally sourced walnut.

Kohler tub and toilet for the win, every time. Kohler purist shower trim kit and similar modern faucet with all brushed nickel finishes. I love a good vintage rug. We have competing bright pink and black in our master bedroom, so our selected rug will deviate from the red one slightly so it compliments the adjoining space.

And the before ..

A total gut of this space was in order and we quickly went to work on selecting finishes. We started this project with tile selection first, naturally, since this is sponsored by Jeffrey Court and we knew we were in good hands. We chose a 12×12 marble mosaic tile for our shower wall with white grout and a porcelain 1″ hexagon tile for the floor with a dark grey grout.

Week 3, tile is in. Plumbing, drywall and HVAC are all set. (patience is a virtue when you have to run to the main floor during the night).

Up next, our custom walnut vanity and linen are getting installed tomorrow. We selected a quartz top from Aurea Stone, Paragon. This is a new product for us and we cannot wait to see it installed.

We hope you love the ‘in progress’ update. Stay tuned as we compete to the finish line and reveal professional images of the finished space.
