City Livin’
City Livin.. one of our favorite phrases, for sure! It’s a long running joke, but Jesse claimed to be a suburban guy. He loves the sprawl, the quiet streets and the BIG homes. One of our first dates was in the city, naturally. We toured one of his current projects in Linden Hills, Minneapolis and had a long bite to eat at Tilia Minneapolis. Of course, these are my stompin’ grounds, so I was right at home. And a guy that can manage a whole house reno in linden hills.. yes please.
As we continued to spend more and more time together, we found ourselves frequenting all of the city’s hot spots and ‘hipster’ hang outs. Jesse was now working and playing in the city and often coined his adventures to ‘city livin’. Fast forward a few years, we were recently married, blended our 2 families with 3 children combined.. and you guessed it, we live in the city. As I rewind to our earlier moments I often think of that Linden Hills project. It continues to be one of our favorites, maybe it’s a bit nostalgic for a few reasons, but the location, the design partnership we created with Allison Mathern, and the way cool clients to boot make this a project worth visiting and revisiting.
The kitchen is one of our favorite spaces. Walls were taken down, all lower cabinetry custom made by our cabinet shop, floating shelves, subway tile, and all of the accessory details are stunning!
The dining space that easily flows into the expanded kitchen allow for entertaining groups of all sizes.
The family room, once the formal dining room, is adorned with custom shiplap walls and stone fireplace, and how about the engineered wood floor.
Formal living room with a view.. Lake Harriet.
Newly renovated lower level featuring a partial bath and a fully stocked bar, of course.
Rear entry featuring Hygge and West wall coverings and custom cabinetry from our shop.
Master bedroom with custom barn doors by our shop and Cyber Space Navy from Sherwin Williams.
Master bathroom.. what’s not to love? Custom cabinetry, subway + arabesque tile from Lowes tile shop.
Pocket office with a view.
One of our most shared images.. the entry way. Custom shiplap and barn door from our shop, Hygge and West wall covering and design by Allison Mathern. // #perfection
Just to emphasize our point, here are a few before images of this home. Um yes… Jesse has some serious skills!
